The reason for supporting old projects is, first of all, a constant income and the right amount of contingent, at the expense of which the game is kept. The following projects are among the top ten PC games that have not been thrown into the junk and the developers will not do it soon.

World of Warcraft

To gamers, and they understand not only games, but the gaming industry as a whole, it makes no sense to explain what WoW is. The World of Warcraft algorithm was repeatedly used by different companies and, in general, in some projects the developers managed to create the desired genre. Computer engineers were only defeated with MMORPG storylines when they needed to take the throne.

The first to punch a hole in the problem were developers from Blizzard, who created a major add-on in 2004. The huge content at their disposal was almost immediately compacted with patches from more relevant raids. The developers, having looked closely at the project, decided not to close the game in any way, constantly adding updates. Considering that the toy is 16 years old, this means, first of all, that the income from the game is coming in steadily.

Titan Quest

Few people wanted to see a game that, although it was a pretty successful clone of Diablo, is still a clone. Moreover, no one expected that Titan Quest, thanks to constant updates from the developer, will turn out to be a long-liver.

Gamers fell in love with the game primarily because the project has a lot of different options for managing stories.

Immediately after the release of the toy, and this happened in 2006, an addition to the plot was created in the laboratory, after which the developers did not touch the project. When interest in the game began to fade in 2016, gamers got an improved version of the game at their disposal.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

We are talking about a project that is one of the oldest in the industry. The main feature is that the game is carefully maintained, thanks to constant updates, in good condition. This is done primarily not because of the personal ambitions of the developers, but because the project brings good income, and its popularity is still quite stable.

Interestingly, the very first version survived thanks to a good plot. Initially, the developers left a lot of “jambs”, which were then gradually removed during updates.

World of Tanks

One of the first versions of the games about the Second World War, where heavy armored vehicles were used from the war.

Not everyone is aware that the game was invented by the Belarusian Wargaming laboratory, and from the very beginning the project began to bring fabulous profits. You won’t leave such a project even if you want, because with the help of updates it can be successfully used for more than one year.

In the United States and Europe, the project was immediately interested as soon as WoT began to be promoted.

The game, let’s say, went right from the start and the developers, not being at a loss, immediately made several amendments that mask minor errors. Blizzard has long learned how to make good projects, and most of the products have been in demand for a long time, which is very beneficial for the developer. In the case of Star Craft II, the project was originally composed of three parts.

The game began with a project called Wings of Liberty and only much later, after several updates, it was renamed. The game is constantly supplemented with new plots, some of the new products are very voluminous, but in general the project has retained the original scenario.

Minecraft

This game has become a kind of legend, because from these projects, many other games are practically taken as a basis. The scenario, where everything is set on the ability not only to survive, but also to create, carried away and continues to fascinate.

What is important, the initial stage of the project was mastered by one developer and only then, when it became clear that the guy was able to achieve excellent results, a whole department was attracted to help him. The fantastic popularity forced the developers to think about the options for updating the game almost immediately, which is still being carried out.

Terraria

The project is very lucky that the game hit the moment when Minecraft became very popular.

The developers were doubly lucky, because the game, created by the little-known laboratory Re-Logic, without solid support, could have been lost in vain. Having appeared at the right moment and in the right place, they immediately became interested in the game, which did not go unnoticed. The project was quickly updated and supplemented with the missing little things, after which it has already really become in demand and popular.

Path of Exile

For some reason, the game is also called “the correct Diablo 3”, which was never mastered by Blizzard.

Many people liked the gloomy plots, and the developers risked throwing in some of the finances for updates. As time has shown, the project will not be closed soon, because it is constantly supported by developers, it still remains popular.

By creating a single player game, the developers were able to correctly identify the control points in the project, which later helped to constantly maintain it in the right tone.
