Portal 2 Overview

After an excellent start, it is clear that the main character found herself in the same conditions as in the previous part: familiar mechanisms, similar locations. This is the first drawback of Portal 2 – overlaps with the previous part. Another drawback at the very beginning is that the difficulty of the puzzles is too underestimated. However, this will not be a disadvantage for those who play the Portal series for the first time, but will only make it easier to get acquainted with the game. Fortunately, as you progress through the game, the level of difficulty increases significantly, by the end you might think that finding a solution is impossible.

Almost all of the inventions in Portal 2 were too much publicized, which greatly reduced the interest in passing the game for those who were waiting and watching the news. But despite this, the new set of devices may surprise anyone, compared to the previous part of the choice there are much more options. Special attention should be paid to the so-called “portal gun”. She is able to create portals in the form of round holes on the surface of blue or orange, thereby helping the player to move through space.

Another innovation is laser beams and cubic lenses that refract them. A platform that throws objects. Gravity tunnels that carry away everything that enters them. Light bridges that move the player through the air – they can also be used to protect against guard turrets. There are also three types of gel paint: orange can accelerate acceleration, blue increases the jump range, white allows you to make the surface suitable for opening a portal.

I would like to warn those who are very fond of “Easter eggs”, this game is simply filled with them, so it is worth looking for secret rooms. The plot of Portal 2 is terribly primitive; fans of intriguing stories will not like this game very much. The plot is tied to the main character Chell, and her loyal assistant is the chatty hysterical bot Wheatley. Their main task, as in the previous part, is to get out of the Aperture Labs underground complex.

But lovers of complex tasks and puzzles will be interested, since in the game Portal 2 even the most ordinary things can seem confusing, and a completely empty room will become an impenetrable jungle with many obstacles. The most resourceful player at the end of the game, after half an hour of torment, will hit the table with his fist and feel like a fool, but you can always use the help of a friend in cooperative mode, which allows you to connect someone to your game.

This will add interest, since one will begin to guess riddles faster and take command, while the other will not like it. And then the speed race begins to guess the puzzles – who is the smartest? The game, when switching to cooperative mode, will automatically increase the difficulty of passing, and it will not work to reduce it.

If in the competition your partner went into conflict with you, then you will have to pacify him in a cunning way. Since there are no weapons in Portal 2, you can simply make a funny gesture with the character you select from the menu. There is also an alternative version of the game for two – this is a split screen mode, but it is only available on console versions. This mode is notable for the fact that it does not require an Internet connection, and your partner will sit next to you.

There is an opinion that in the third sequel to Portal, before getting to the menu, you will need to complete various types of quests and tasks. Whether it is true or not, it will be possible to find out only when the third part comes out.

Despite its many puzzle missions, Portal 2 can be completed in just a fleeting fourteen hours. Unfortunately, due to its peculiarity, this wonderful game can be completed once, since it will be simply boring to guess the same riddles over and over again. As a result, the game turned out to be very interesting and memorable for its unique style. It remains only to wish everyone to be sure to solve all the puzzles and reach the final.
