Description

No Man’s Sky – the game is a space simulator, included in the sandbox mode.

Despite the bright advertising and grandiose promises, this creation received mostly negative reviews, and this is quite justified. Critics praised the game No Man’s Sky for its deep and sophisticated system of generating the universe, but, unfortunately, this is the only plus that this galactic project can boast. The main reason for dissatisfaction was the numerous shortcomings of the project on the part of the technical plan, but the loud hype, which did not live up to its expectations, also played a role.

No Man’s Sky Review

At the very beginning of the game, the hero is faced with the task of repairing his ship. To do this, you will need a wide variety of materials that can be obtained from various minerals on the surface of an unknown planet. After repairing your transport, it becomes possible to travel across the vastness of the galaxy and perform all sorts of tasks.

In addition to intergalactic flights, it is necessary to establish friendly relations with unknown alien civilizations, help them with further development, destroy aggressive life forms, fight various monsters, robots and space raiders. There is also the opportunity to explore the habitat, and get paid for it. In this case, the game boasts a good atmosphere, which carries a special melancholic character. Only because of this, occasionally there is a desire to return to this universe, and explore several new planets.

But then a problem arises, namely, the lack of multiplayer in No Man’s Sky, which would most likely save the situation. Over time, the same type of flights and acquaintance with different races get bored, and I want to face another person. Just think how the possibilities in the game would have changed. Joint travel through space, exchange of learned skills, assistance in battle against enemies and ordinary communication in real time – all this could be, but alas, it is absent. This oversight of the developers creates an obsessive state of loneliness in this mysterious universe.

Another disadvantage is the limited number of features presented in the game. Very soon you get bored with the uniformity of the available tasks, as well as buildings and objects on the planets, the monotony of the gameplay. You can, of course, save some money over time, buy yourself a luxury spaceship, explore a list of new technologies, but what will happen next? This remains the main issue.

The most obvious failure was the very low optimization of No Man’s Sky. This caused a huge wave of indignation from gamers, and since this project is not a representative of the AAA class, but just an indie game, one can only guess what the catch is. Too high requirements and a decently high cost of this project also creates a lot of questions. What were the developers guided by and what did they want to achieve?

In general, it’s over, I don’t want to call “No Man’s Sky” a complete failure, but there’s really nothing to praise. Perhaps, in the near future, they will start releasing some add-ons that will significantly improve most of the gameplay and introduce much more variety into the game world of this universe. I would like to say thank you to the developers for not throwing their project down the drain and trying to edit it somehow, but so far this has not brought any special changes.

I would like to recall one toy that is very similar to this project. In 2008, the game “Spore” was released, in which there was a mode of space exploration and development of one’s own civilization. Perhaps the guys from Hello Games drew their inspiration from here, but they could not surpass it.

No Man’s Sky, which is currently 10 years older, boasts a huge number of possibilities in its gameplay: colonizing and terraforming planets, creating trade routes with different alien races, creating a galactic alliance and fighting aggressive Groks. A huge system for the creation of space ships, the development of their people, the uniqueness of each alien organism – all this can be found in “Spore”. It’s a shame that No Man’s Sky couldn’t boast of the same.
