Story & Gameplay

The story revolves around survivors facing a zombie apocalypse in the southern United States. The virus found the heroes in everyday life – at a time when the disaster was not even talked about on TV. But there is no time to wait for news – the revived dead are on the doorstep, and a hazy future lies ahead. Therefore, you will have to dramatically transform from clerks into survivors, capable of repelling everyone who appears on the way.

The rapid introduction of State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition breaks off mid-sentence: after the start of the development, it was as if they did not try to think over the scenario. Everything turns into a free exploration of the scenery around, the search for equipment and useful items. The global goal is to destroy plague hearts and clots of infection, and also try to develop a vaccine. But they will not tell about such details – everything will have to be sorted out along the way.

The gameplay, in comparison with the previous part, has not changed much: as before, you have to fight, move around the global map, interact with the survivors, fight raiders and exchange goods. And, as before, every mistake will lead to very sad consequences – infection and certain death …

Updates and Content

After the release of State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition, the developers from Undead Labs met with harsh criticism: the journalists did not appreciate the incomplete storyline, devoid of specific tests and missions (only global goals without dialogue and stories are provided), and problems with balance and performance. The flaws are noticeable in the style and even in the amount of content: even with a strong desire to hold out in a fictional universe, it will not be released longer than 20-30 hours, and the potential is completely different!

The developers of State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition did not immediately begin to improve their reputation: at first they focused on intermediate updates and only then released the Juggernaut edition with an updated engine, Hartland missions (NPCs, dialogues, notes in the diary) and reworked graphics, including dynamic fog lighting and other details of the environment that add realism. An important update greatly influenced the familiar look of State of Decay 2, and therefore those who missed the new part of the series about the apocalypse should return back – the world has changed beyond recognition …
