Halo Wars 2 is a sci-fi real-time strategy game that unfolds the events that took place in the original part of the series and painstakingly tells about the war of the distant future.

And, although the year 2559 on the virtual calendar, the principles of the soldiers of that time remained the same – power, money, fame and resources. Human civilization is once again based on base ideas and principles. The difference is easy to find only in the equipment used and the desired result. While the Earthlings of the XXI century are dividing the “Blue Planet”, the soldiers from the future are ready to tear apart the whole galaxy.

Atmosphere

The distant future in all its glory – technological tools, alloys of unknown resources, trained soldiers hiding behind impenetrable armor, as well as starships, previously unseen constructions and artifacts.

It is extremely interesting to observe the events taking place, especially in motion, when the casing scatters due to explosions, and the ground turns black under the mines. By the way, about the scenery – the world, although technologically advanced, is still based on the usual outlines of the Earth: forests, swamps and steppes have not disappeared anywhere, but qualitatively complement the surrounding picture.

Modes

After completing the Halo Wars 2 storyline, the developers do not suggest immediately leaving the keyboard and mouse and changing entertainment. Quite the opposite – tests of increased complexity with new tasks and additional conditions are also provided.

And also – multiplayer battles are open, where you will have to compete not with artificial intelligence, but with unpredictable strategists from all over the world. Halo Wars 2: Complete Edition even includes DLCs with new content – even a quick overview is not enough to realize the number of new features and maps.

Battles

Halo Wars 2: Horror Awakens is a classic example of the real-time strategy genre, where events unfold according to a predetermined scenario, but with an unexpected turn of events. On global maps, you will have to explore the surrounding lands, capture bases, and then develop production, recruit units and attack the enemy. 90% of missions are built on similar elements, but for the remaining 10 you will have to answer, because the choice of tactics, buildings and other details depends on the players.

Settings

Developers at 343 Industries allow you to experiment with the difficulty slider even before the storylines in Halo Wars 2 start. In addition to the “Easy” option, the item “Normal”, “Difficult” and “Impenetrable” are provided.

The danger of artificial intelligence during the passage depends on the choice: the higher the parameter, the more difficult it is to study the global map and the higher the chance to make irreparable mistakes and lead the mission to the point of no return. Beyond the complexity, there is a comprehensive setting of graphical elements, controls, and even subtitles and voice acting.

Units and Buildings

Units in Halo Wars 2 are available for single and group selection. They are able to move around the map, interact with individual elements of the scenery and use additional skills (the same Spartans are capable of boarding and attacking everyone on the ground, hovering in the air on a jump pack).

The list of units is extensive – the UNSC and the “Exiles” have 20-25 types of units, which are unlocked as the story progresses and produced in the corresponding buildings. Units have different strengths and can help in non-standard situations, starting with raids, map research or helping wounded units.

With buildings, the situation is similar – during the deployment of the base, you will have to occupy free cells around the base, developing various technologies. The aerial platform will help produce spacecrafts, and the barracks will help produce trained soldiers or even commanders in Halo Wars 2.
