Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is a notorious third-person shooter developed by Rockstar North and is dedicated to the crime turmoil that took place in the fictional American city of Vice City in the mid-80s.

Around – palm trees and skyscrapers of the resort town, narrow tourist streets and yachts frozen in the port. The sights around beckon with a sunny atmosphere, but there is no time to look at the scenery – in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the story starts unexpectedly abruptly, and the criminal environment forces you to quickly adjust to the dynamically changing world.

Atmosphere & Gameplay

Rockstar parodies the 80s atmosphere in every possible way: heroes’ hairstyles, multicolored toe shirts, weird nightclub outfits, pink blazers and inimitable styles of watches and glasses. Cultural borrowings are also visible in other things – we are talking about cars, billboards on the roads and institutions where local stars perform.

Outside of peaceful life, there is no less predictable criminal one – mafiosi, clans, endless shootouts, reckless pursuits and agreements with everyone and everyone (the same policemen on a short leash). A couple of moments and life in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will cease to amaze and will begin to resemble the standard Hollywood action movie of those times.

The gameplay is also very familiar – the developers did not reinvent the wheel and settled on ideas and concepts that were already known from the third part of the series. The same world open for exploration, a global map with activity points and additional missions, the same third-person camera and an endless combat arsenal. The goals have not changed either: the protagonist, Tommy Vercetti, will have to consistently deal with the incoming combat missions (there is no diplomacy left) and help the characters appearing on the way in difficult situations.

Missions, Shooting & Difficulty

Tasks in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City are varied: sometimes you need to deliver characters to the points marked on the map, then shoot with representatives of warlike clans, and after a couple of moments gain points in the shooting range. In addition to linear goals that move along the plot, there are alternative ways to have fun: Tommy is able to make money in a taxi and in an ambulance, and he also knows how to protect areas and collect rare items.

But the action movie in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City can be traced most clearly: in almost every mission you have to shoot enemies. And the faster and more accurately, the better. The difficulty is too uneven, and therefore 10-15 minutes after the start of the career of a crime boss there are great chances to part with life many times and not even get to the famous mission with a helicopter …
