Dishonored has a steampunk-style graphics. The picture changes from bright and joyful to gloomy and ominous, depending on the events taking place. The locations surrounding the protagonist are very reminiscent of London in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.

The events take place in the city of Donwall, the capital of the island state of Gristol. The player is offered to try on the role of the empress’s guard named Corvo, who is killed in front of his eyes and accused of this crime. Next, the protagonist needs to escape from prison just before the execution, acquire magical abilities, take revenge on his offenders, uncover a conspiracy, save the heiress of the empire, who was kidnapped by the assassins. During the journey, Corvo meets charismatic NPCs, finds books and audio recordings that help him learn the history of the fictional world and understand the plot.

The first thing you pay attention to is complete and absolute freedom of action in Dishonored. Thanks to the huge detailed locations in the game, you can simply get lost. How to go through the game or complete a particular mission depends only on the player’s desire, and this will affect not only the ending of the game, but also the atmosphere in general. Given the huge selection of weapons and methods of reprisals against enemies, the player can go ahead through the crowds of enemies, simultaneously shooting, cutting off their heads and feeding them to hordes of rats. At the same time, thanks to a whole set of magical abilities, the game can be played in “stealth” mode – by putting opponents to sleep or bypassing them altogether. At the end of each mission, you can see the statistics of the passage and find out what secrets were not discovered, what other paths exist. This is very convenient for players who decide to complete the game 100%.

Role-playing system Dishonored is made at a high level. Everything is extremely simple and straightforward, without unnecessary troubles. Special abilities are improved with the help of runes collected at game locations, equipment can be improved by a mechanic at the base in the “Dog Pit” pub, this will require a blueprint and some cash. Also, the character can be equipped with bone amulets that improve basic indicators, such as health regeneration, movement speed, attack power, and so on. Initially, only three amulets are available, but as the equipment is upgraded, their number grows.

An interesting feature of the game is the so-called “chaos level”. It depends on the manner of passing: the more the player kills, the higher the level of chaos and affects the state of the game world. A high level of chaos is characterized by a large number of rats suffering from the plague of people.

The level of chaos has a direct impact on the ending, of which there are three in the game:

1. a good ending is determined by a low level – all key characters are alive, Princess Emily takes her throne, and Corvo becomes her right hand;
2. neutral – most of the key characters are dead, the empire is almost destroyed by the plague, but Emily is saved and becomes empress;
3. bad ending – high level of chaos, all key characters are killed, the empire is completely consumed by the plague.

The Dishonored game turned out to be great in all respects. And even if there are any shortcomings in it, you simply do not notice them. Beautiful graphics, unobtrusive music, an exciting plot, vivid memorable characters, complete freedom of action put the game in the list of the best. Every self-respecting gamer must play it, and after going to the end, he will definitely decide to play it again.
