Passive online co-op
As you travel Ashen, you will occasionally meet other players in a huge open world similar to Journey’s passive multiplayer mode. It is up to you how to deal with them – to fight against evil together, invite them to your group, or simply ignore them.

Showers with a twist
Ashen is faithful to the genre of “souls” fighting, based on endurance, and introduces players to the harsh, but rather vast world. But here’s the highlight of Ashen – no two gameplay is alike. Whether you’re exploring swamps, exploring a fjord, or looting an old palace, where you are at any moment will drastically change the course of your adventure. It’s a brutal open world; you just live in it.

Creatures + Combat
Ashen has no shortage of dangerous encounters, from hostile enemies to local creatures. You will be rewarded for exploring the environment and its inhabitants, planning your adventure, not flying in the back seat. The flora and fauna of the world is not just fantastic; they are often fatal. Every confrontation, however small, can have dire consequences.

Craft is the key to success
When you find survivors in Ashen, you will have the option to invite them to your city. But these are not just adventurers – they are potential employees, bringing with them a variety of craft skills, from blacksmithing to gathering experience.

Famed fantasy author Mark Lawrence (Empire Shattered Trilogy) and renowned group Foreign Fields worked closely with the A44 development team to create coherent and unique Ashen storytelling and sound.
