Chatrandom is an experimental service designed to find and communicate with strangers in video chats. The interlocutors are selected at random.

If the conversation does not stick to the stranger, it allows you to “brush away”, and to add a potential friend or even a soul mate to your contacts for communication in Chatrandom text chats, video calls or in the “parties” mode. The service offers few settings: only sorting has to be dealt with – apart from random selection, it is possible to display chats exclusively with guys or girls.

Chatrandom’s ideas resonate with the concept of dating services (like Tinder, where people are offered to swipe right or left to pick up new ones) and the infamous Chatroulette platform, which allows you to constantly bump into new people in video chat. The difference is noticeable only in the details: Chatrandom allows you to add friends, generate virtual parties where dozens of users collide at a time, and at the same time communicate face-to-face in text chats.

The service is intended mainly for finding new acquaintances, but the developers also offer alternative scenarios of actions: flirting, communicating for the sake of practicing foreign languages, discussing books, knowledge or ideas about the world and the situation around. Chatrandom does not restrict topics, does not prohibit going “personal” and then referring to politics. It is much more important to maintain communication, and not to be silent “in a tube”.

Updates and Implementation

Technical problems have haunted the Chatrandom service since the release: the developers still have not figured out the disappearing chat conversations, the disappearing statistics of recent activity and the crashes that occur during authorization. But the situation is even worse with subscriptions and VIP-statuses: purchased extensions for a profile for a week or a month disappear the very next day, and support specialists seem to be in no hurry to figure out the situation.

But new content for Chatrandom (albeit not tested) appears with enviable regularity: themes and fonts, interface translations and filters that allow you to search for interlocutors according to a given set of parameters (a function only for VIP owners). Against the background of the innovations, the previous problems look doubly unnatural and strange: did you not find at least a couple of days to fix the errors that have been tormenting the audience for many months?
