The Crew 2 for Windows

The Crew 2 is an arcade racing game set in a seamless world that mimics the United States. Take part in competitions in cars, switch to airplanes and conquer the water surface in motor boats!

In The Crew 2, the walkthrough abandoned the idea of ​​the first part about illegal races, showdown with the police and the gradual study of maps. In the sequel, the player acts as an unknown racer who declares himself by participating in official tournaments and trying to promote The Crew 2 account on social networks. The latter is a measure of fame – after successful races, the number of subscribers there grows.

The seamless The Crew 2 map invites you to take part in challenges for:

• Street racing (yellow);
• Off road (orange);
• Professional racing (blue);
• Freestyle (red).

The races are marked with a color and an image of a vehicle, be it a car, plane or boat. The tests are divided into categories. For example, street racing includes:

• Drag racing – we drive along a straight track, accelerating incredible speeds;
• Hypercars – storming the Crew 2 races with the best cars in the world;
• The Crew 2 drift – enter controlled drifts, gain points for this;
• Street racing – ahead of the opponents.

Off-road is divided into:

• Rally races – competing in cross country races;
• Motocross – cars are replaced by bikes.

Professional league:

• Conquering the Air – Airplane Competitions;
• Cutting the waves – driving motorboats;
• Winning on land – taking control of F1 cars.

Freestyle is divided into:

• Aerobatics – performing feints on airplanes;
• Monster trucks – conquering tracks on huge cars;
• Jet sprint – jumping on the waves and sigging from trampolines.

The Crew 2 requires a special vehicle for each category. They offer to buy it for the money received for the first places taken or the car is given out by sponsors. Regardless of where the transport came from, it will need to be improved using parts that are newly received as a reward, or dropped from special boxes on the map. The parameters of the car, boat, aircraft are regulated through the Crew 2 settings.

Here’s an example of the changes available for cars:

• Air distribution;
• Gearbox;
• Front clutch;
• Rear wheel clutch;
• Braking power;
• Balance of braking forces;
• Front suspension.

And a number of add-ons that transform the handling of the car, which will be discussed later. In addition to the main activities, there are The Crew 2 photo tasks:

• You are instructed to take a picture with a bear, hare, wolf, building.
• Find the designated animal / object.
• Take a picture using the game editor.

This dilutes the gameplay and encourages you to study the map, which you don’t want to do in your free time due to the presence of fast movements. For an AAA game, The Crew 2 looks frankly average. Due to the seamless world, the developers at Ivory Tower had to cut graphics so that users could enjoy a stable 60fps.

It is easy to notice the drawdowns by making The Crew 2 an overview of the draw range, sudden appearance of secondary objects in front of the player, disappearance of textures on pedestrians when moving away from the player’s car.

Graphic oversights smooth out the picturesque views that open up on the hills – for this it is worth climbing the hills or flying over the sights by plane.

But the physics, even for an arcade race, is very weak: all cars, without exception, are controlled in the same way, collisions with opponents are not felt, the fences scatter like plywood. Having crashed into a concrete pillar or wall, the car will only roll back a little and everything is like that. The car does not even wrinkle, acquiring light scratches on the body. The position can be changed by settings that turn a sluggish car into a car for drifting. The improvement details do not help The Crew 2.

There are no complaints about the sound of the car and the musical accompaniment – the engine thunders powerfully, the soundtrack is picked up cheerfully. Sounds from landing on the ground, contact with poles, cacti and other things upset, they sound not organic.

The Crew 2 is a controversial race from Ubisoft that will be fun to play with friends in multiplayer. But the price tag of 2300 rubles for the PC version spoils the already average impression of the game. The project was also released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
