Redeemer is an epic action RPG with uncompromising combat, a brutal universe, and an unpretentious storyline that revolves entirely around survival and revenge. Developers moved the events to the near future, burdened with cybernetic equipment and augmented by fictional reality.

There are plenty of sights around, but the main character has no time to look at the landscapes – life has been hanging by a thread for a long time, and therefore it’s time to fight to the last drop of blood …

Redeemer Features

• Single and co-op modes for those who decided to show the accumulated abilities personally or with the help of friends;
• Complicating battles that make you worry about skill and interaction with virtual arenas, in addition to leveling and gaining experience;
• Realistic physics in Redeemer makes you experiment every time: here the enemies fell over a flimsy fence, there they stumbled and fell into the abyss, and after a couple of moments they were scalded in an unknown solution;
• The brutality in an action movie exceeds all acceptable boundaries: knocked out teeth, cracked skulls, falling off limbs – you hardly need to count on a happy ending in such a world;
• The main storyline is not the only entertainment: an additional “Arena” is provided with challenges of increased difficulty and points awarded after each action.

Atmosphere and history

The plot in Redeemer revolves around an operative and mercenary, Vasily, who for many years served as a security guard at a factory that produces cybernetic equipment. The hero patrolled the corridors, periodically ran into competitors, and at the same time tortured and killed those who did not like the leadership. Vasily’s career moved uphill rapidly, but at some point it was cut short – they decided to turn the famous mercenary into a cyborg, erasing his memory and relieving him of his post. The hero did not even consider a curious, but not too friendly proposal – he immediately packed his things and fled to the monastery …

The spectacular plotline in Redeemer almost instantly turns into a Hollywood action movie – after 5-10 minutes, opponents begin to appear on the screen, and the hero is already squeezing the armature in his hands and pounces on those who appear on the way …

Gameplay, Difficulty and Enhanced Edition

Redeemer is an experimental representative of the beat ’em up genre with a dynamic combat system composed of offensive and defensive combinations. A couple of clicks on the buttons that come across on the keyboard or gamepad, and here the hero smashes someone else’s skull with a bang, knocks out someone’s teeth with his fists and, snatching out a rusted ax, chops off the arms and legs of the gaping opponents.

The Redeemer universe is cruel, but despite the scattering blood, you don’t get tired of watching the events either after 5 minutes, or at the moment when the end credits start running across the screen. The combat system looks too spectacular, and also unusually complex: the mistakes made instantly make you wrinkle and wait for the moment at which the hero will begin to lose his life.

The Enhanced Edition arrives six months after the original Redeemer was released and includes a number of long-awaited fixes and innovations, including updated balance, additional challenges, and an expanded storyline. At the same time, there was a local multiplayer, a choice of class (monk and soldier), as well as cards of increased complexity, forcing to react with lightning speed to the world around. The additional content went to the owners of the original without subscriptions and extra payments – and therefore, if Vasily’s story did not become a revelation before the Enhanced Edition, then the new edition is a good reason to return to the universe.
