You can defend the base both with the help of walls and turrets, and independently with the help of tanks. The first enemies are pretty commonplace: they attack in small groups that can be exterminated with a standard pistol. All battles on the map are reminiscent of an arms race – the longer you accumulate strength, the more sophisticated the units of the enemies will be. You need to keep up with the arms race as you research the best weapons, the best armor, and unlock military technologies such as tanks, artillery and combat drones.

The sheer amount of things to do in Factorio is breathtaking and a little intimidating. Thanks to the ever-increasing threat of aliens and some well-thought-out cornerstone technologies, they promote continuous development and never get bored. Factorio rewards with interesting logistic puzzles and a sense of ownership of something colossal and impressive.
