Cities: Skylines is a single-player project by Colossal Order, released on March 10, 2015 by Paradox Interactive. City planning simulator for Microsoft windows, Mac OS X, Linux.

Work on the release of the game began in 2009, but did not cherish much hope, as it has strong competitors in the market. Only in 2013, development began at full speed, after the failure of the leader of the genre SimCity. At the same time, the game has limitations, since the language interface does not have a full range, it contains only: Russian, English, French, German Spanish, Portuguese and Polish.

The game allows you to feel at once in the role of both a designer and a measure and a builder and an engineer. All these incarnations are available thanks to the design mode of urban areas. The game includes residential areas, business center zones and industrial complexes. The player will be responsible for the welfare of the locality: the tax rate, the development of education, tourism, large and small businesses – will depend on the actions taken by the manager.

Networks of transport connections between cities are available by default, but they can be developed and improved. So you can build a motorway or even an airport. An internal transport line may have connections to metro, trolleybuses or trams, which will also help the movement of residents around the city, and as a result, will improve their standard of living.

There is no ending in the gameplay, so Cities: Skylines can be played non-stop. Moreover, the player is offered the opportunity to independently create additions to the existing ones: After Dark, Snowfall. This happens in the API editor mode, with which it is possible to create mods for building houses, transport nodes, or even change the first person view of the game at your discretion.

The starting game map Cities: Skylines is only 2 by 2 in size, some locations are located near reservoirs and have access to them. With the development of the city and the growth of its level, it becomes possible to buy out neighboring areas and engage in construction on them. In total, the game has 8 such objects. But modifications will increase the number of enclosed territories or their size. Also, at a certain level of well-being, new buildings open, such as a school, hospital, fire stations or landfills. The process of uniting the districts is provided with a special game tool.
