Avorion – a few hundred years ago, a catastrophe almost tore your galaxy apart – an impenetrable ring of torn hyperspace tissue formed in the center of the galaxy, which ordinary hyperspace engines cannot overcome.

After this Event, no one was able to approach the central regions of the galaxy. All you know is that the Event also spawned many insurmountable hyperspace rifts across the galaxy and that a strange alien race, the Xsotan, has emerged at the center. It looks like these aliens have found a way to traverse the torn fabric of hyperspace, but so far no one has been able to make contact with them.

There are also rumors of a strange new metal called “Avorion” that appeared in the center of the galaxy around the same time as Xsotan. Apparently, the aliens use this material to build their ships.

Start like no one else on the brink and work your way to the center of the galaxy, which becomes more dangerous, but also more rewarding the closer you get to its core. Avorion takes sandbox aspects from games like X or Freelancer, adds co-op multiplayer, and lets you build your own ships. It features ships made of freely scalable blocks that can be procedurally generated and broken up into pieces where they are thrown into space battles.

Equip your ship with machine guns, lasers and other weapons to fight your enemies and enjoy the view of completely destructible ships crashing exactly where you hit them.

Defend your allies from pirates, hunt down enemies for coins, or even take part in wars between entire factions in Avorion. After winning, collect loot from defeated opponents that you can use to upgrade your ship: new turrets with special abilities like auto-fire or repair beams, or system updates that will allow you to install even more weapons. Build hangars and command fighter squads in your battles, or destroy enemy cargo ships to steal their cargo.

Fly through beautiful nebulae and dense asteroid fields in search of hidden treasures and meet the numerous factions that inhabit and control their part of the galaxy. Each faction in Avorion has its own characteristics, such as peacefulness, intelligence or aggressiveness, and its ships and stations have a special look.

Explore the galaxy at your own pace to find valuable goods in old ship wrecks, undiscovered resource-rich asteroid fields, giant asteroids you can claim to be, or clues about what happened during the Event centuries ago.

There is no limit to the size or complexity of your ship beyond your resources. But there is also a creative mode where you can just build whatever you want. You’re not tied to the standard voxel style, and building awesome ships in Avorion won’t get lost in a lot of micromanagement.

You can focus on building a beautiful ship without worrying about getting it up and running. But always keep an eye on the maneuverability and power consumption of your ship. Customize your ship according to its operational purpose, from light and nimble explorers to heavily armored battleships with sturdy shields.

Why build just one ship? Hire captains to control your ships, manage crews, weapons, hangars and fighters, and create your own fleet of spaceships in Avorion!

Expand your ship with the cargo bay, find great deals, and transport over a hundred merchandise across the galaxy to make profits and move up the food chain. Building a fleet of specialized transport ships with a large volume of cargo space will help you build a trading corporation.

Expand your influence in the galaxy by creating asteroid mines and factories that attract NPC merchants who will buy and sell their goods at your establishments. Install trading systems that detect trade routes, supply and demand across multiple sectors and become the richest military leader in the galaxy!

Or maybe you’re tired of being a good guy? Just raid cargo ships, ferry illegal goods, or become a headhunter.

You don’t have to face all of these problems alone! Avorion offers cooperative multiplayer, so team up with friends to build stations together and destroy pirates and enemy factions!

Everyone needs a co-pilot and you can control the ships together, one of you will control and the other will take care of the gunfire. Work with each other to expand your influence in the galaxy and build your own empire.
