Playable factions A Total War Saga: THRONES OF BRITANNIA

Anglo-Saxons – West Six and Mears

When Roman rule in England ended, the new Germanic kingdoms united in the counties now known as Northumbria, Mercia, Wessex, Essex, Sussex, East Anglia and Kent. The peoples of these regions began to be called the Anglo-Saxons.

West seaxe
Faction Leader: King Alfred

As the dominant Anglo-Saxon kingdom in the south of England, the troops of the West Six – or Wessex in modern English – provided the island with the main resistance to the invasion of the Great Pagan Army. From the capital of Winchester, Wessex conquered lands in Surrey, Sussex, Kent, Essex and even Mercia. Alfred’s stubborn defense of the Danish invasion laid the foundation for Wessex, which would unite England under one ruler for the first time in AD 927.

Mierce
Faction leader: Keowulf

From its capital, Tamworth, the kings of the Mersey, now known as Merica, ruled over what is now known as the Midlands. At its peak, Moers stretched from Northumbria in the north of England to Kent, Sussex and Wessex in the south. In 877 AD, the Great Pagan Army took over the eastern part of the kingdom and formed Danelaw, or East Anglia.

Gaels – Mide and Kirkenn

Gaelic culture originally developed in Ireland, their society was built around a system of clans and chieftains. They raided and traded with Roman settlements and by 878 AD had expanded out of Ireland and populated most of Scotland. With the influx of Vikings, some of the raiders settled in Gaelic lands, becoming Norse Gaels. The Scottish Gaels absorbed the Picts to become the kingdom of Alba – essentially laying the foundation for modern-day Scotland.

Mide
Faction leader in A Total War Saga: THRONES OF BRITANNIA: King Flann Sinn. Meade is located in the heart of Ireland. Not only geographically, but also politically, intellectually and spiritually.
