It is now 1972. Free love time. The latest fashion trend: flip flops, bandanas and English Leather cologne. But the Cold War is in full swing, and on another continent the war is real. New movements are being born one after another: Greens, feminists… Meanwhile, completely different movements reign on dance floors, a new fashion that sweeps underground clubs and breaks through further. The winds of change are blowing over the country.

And in one big city, in a tall, impersonal government building, someone left a window open. All the winds of change are now blowing here, driving fallen leaves across the clean floor that Joe just swept. He has been working here for two years. A hopeless job of a janitor who is obliged to do everything to keep the building as clean and impeccable as the suits of people scurrying along the corridors. This has been going on for many years. One joyless work replaces another, and each one drains the soul in its own way.

Our hero’s name is Joe. Common name. Ordinary person. Average height, weight and quick wits. In fact, the only thing that is at least somewhat remarkable about him is how he fits the description of the average man in the street. Joe’s life up to this point would hardly have been suitable for writing the most overwhelming biography.
