Plants vs Zombies 3 is an experimental tower defense strategy game, once again dedicated to uncompromising battles between the living dead and plants that protect their home planet from mutated and infected earthlings.

The goals of Plants vs Zombies 3 from the previous parts of the series have not changed: from the start you will have to place virtual warriors on a kind of chessboard, and then – to beat off waves of approaching enemies. But the general concept has changed, and there are more contradictions: the strategy makes you constantly adjust to the environment and watch how the zombies evolve. Opponents hide a bunch of abilities and slyly attack at the wrong moment.

• Classic atmosphere in a new wrapper: the Plants vs Zombies 3 universe has been overgrown with new decorations and partly redesigned – there are more dark elements around in the spirit of Halloween;
• Adversarial mechanics are familiar: as in the previous parts of the series, you will have to place plants on the map and protect the Earth from the oncoming crowds of the living dead;
• The elements of role-based development have increased: after each completed test, there is a chance to increase the characteristics of the characters or even unlock new abilities by crossing a couple of plant species;
• The difficulty grows evenly – as you progress, you will have a chance to face invincible bosses, insidious zombie squads and gladiators hiding valuable treasures.

Atmosphere & Gameplay

The environment around the third part of the series has changed: evergreen scenery still flickers on the screen, but less and less. But terrible things have increased: either a strange skyscraper with flaming eyes and a barely moving jaw peeps out from behind the city, then the living dead with rotten heads fall from the sky, and sometimes mechanical crabs are trying to get into the frame and terrify. There are also experimental maps for clearing – as you progress through Plants vs Zombies 3, you will even have a chance to look into the laboratory to an unknown scientist hiding experimental developments and strange mechanisms.

The gameplay of Plants vs Zombies 3 has also partially changed: among the significant innovations is a new energy addition system. The developers no longer suggest arranging sunflowers and collecting falling sun rays. Energy is now accumulated automatically, and new plants for protection are acquired in the form of cards dragged onto the playing field. The new concept, although it does not make serious changes to the gameplay, nevertheless partially facilitates the task – it has become easier to defend, because you no longer need to collect energy, nor waste space for sunflowers.

Features, Updates and Content

Challenges in Plants vs Zombies 3, as before, are scattered across the global map. You have to fight with artificial intelligence, releasing waves of opponents with a frequency of several seconds on each of the tasks. The goal is to fight back. And the faster the better: the results are recorded on the final leaderboard and help unlock new rewards and special prizes. Outstanding strategists can expect exclusive championship titles and even additional content like competitions with grandmasters in tournament format.

However, even without access to esports disciplines, it is impossible to get bored in Plants vs Zombies 3: due to frequent updates, the content is only added, and therefore you have to experiment for hours, defend yourself and think over a strategy for future actions. All that is missing is balance tweaks – some characters are still much stronger than others.
