GTA 4 follows the life of a 30-year-old immigrant from Eastern Europe named Niko Bellic. Niko arrived in Liberty City in search of a better life, seduced by his cousin Roman Bellic. He praised Niko by email for his prosperous life in the United States.
After Niko follows Roman to his apartment, it gradually dawns on him that Roman is in fact deeply in debt and only owns a small taxi company. Roman is the only person Niko knows in Liberty City at the start of GTA 4, and is Niko’s most important connection in the first half of the game.
GTA 4 main characters
Nico Bellic is the main character of the game. He speaks Serbian as his first language, but Niko’s nationality is not explicitly stated in the game. However, in the 1990s, Niko participated in the war for the breakup of Yugoslavia. He came from Eastern Europe to Liberty City in search of a better life. After Niko enters Roman’s messy apartment, it soon dawns on him that Roman is heavily in debt and only owns a small taxi company. Nemesis Nico – Dmitry Raskalov.
Roman Bellic is Niko’s cousin (their fathers were brothers) who left Eastern Europe for the US before Niko. Roman is attracted to Nikon Liberty City, praising his life situation. However, Niko learns that Roman is deeply in debt.
Dmitry Raskalov is the antagonist of Grand Theft Auto IV. At the beginning of the game, he acts as the right hand of Mikhail Faustin, and also gives tasks to Niko. He was heavily addicted to painkillers. Dmitry is the complete opposite of Faustin, almost always calm and reasonable, unlike his friend. On the other hand, he betrays Mikhail and later Niko in order to gain a foothold in Liberty City’s underworld. He had almost no connection with anyone, without betraying them in the end.
The plot revelations end there.
Neighbourhood
The play area is a bit smaller overall than Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, but it doesn’t have empty space like a field, forest, or the like, and each street has its own name. The game has variable weather. One game day lasts 48 minutes of real time.
AI-modeled NPCs are more authentic and do normal things like reading newspapers, trashing, eating, smoking, visiting buildings, and using ATMs.
Music in Grand Theft Auto IV
The Grand Theft Auto series of games features versatile and well-known music. Like previous games in the series, the radio channel can be selected while the player is in a vehicle.
You can change the channel in almost all vehicles in the game (except ambulances). Grand Theft Auto IV has a total of 19 radio channels, three of which are chat channels. The radio can also be turned off. In the PC version, the player can add their own music to the game.
Multiplayer
Grand Theft Auto IV is the first game in the series to feature an official multiplayer mode for all released platforms.
There are 15 multiplayer modes in total and up to 16 players can participate in the games. GTA 4 game character is customizable. In addition to racing and killing, multiplayer modes include free space where players can explore the entire city.
Reviews and criticism
Grand Theft Auto IV was well received by video game critics worldwide. Metacritic ranked the game as the best PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game of all time.
The game is also the second highest rated game on the site after The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (98/100, second with two other games with the same result). Prior to the game’s official release, video game reviewers were not sent the game in advance, but were instead allowed to play it on Rockstar property or in hotel rooms.
Hilary Goldstein of IGN gave Grand Theft Auto IV a 10/10. According to him, the game earned a full 10 points in all categories: design, sound, graphics, gameplay, and enduring appeal.
The game was the first to receive full marks in all categories. Goldstein called the game “a big leap from Grand Theft Auto III” and said it was a new benchmark for new open world games. Goldstein’s only criticism of the game was occasional glitches in the game’s defense system, but he still found the game worthy of full credit.
GTA 4 sold 3.6 million copies in the first 24 hours. In its first week, the game sold approximately $500 million, or about six million copies. As of July 2013, the game has sold 25 million copies.
Windows version
The Microsoft Windows version of Grand Theft Auto IV was originally announced for release in North America on November 18, 2008 and in Europe on November 21, 2008, but the game was delayed and the release date became December 3, 2008.
