Terraria is a side-scrolling survival adventure game. Explore a procedurally generated world, equip cities, fight bosses or indulge in mining.

Gameplay

Before getting acquainted with the gameplay, the latest version of Terraria offers to create a character for a foray into the outside world, transforming his gender, hairstyle, adjusting the color of his hair, eyes, skin and clothes. Here they set the name and choose the difficulty level:

1. Low – after death you only lose money.
2. Medium – death takes valuable items.
3. Difficult mode – beginners without skill are killed by anything.

The next step is to create a world in Terraria, divided by size: small, medium and large. Difficulty is also chosen here between:

• normal – a classic adventure with moderate challenges;
• By the expert, death is everywhere, as is increased resource extraction.

If you decide to create a large resolution of the world, prepare to wait up to 5 minutes in real time for it to be generated. After choosing a character and a map, the passage of the Terraria game begins – you find yourself somewhere in the middle of the game environment, next to the Guide. The latter acts as an advisor, explaining to the player the basics of the gameplay in a random order. But classical training is not provided, which is why you have to deal with what is happening on your own:

• In Terraria, players receive a set of 3 primary survival tools: a copper pickaxe, an ax, and a sword.
• The first step is to get wood for home furnishing.
• The pickaxe is the best choice for slugs encountered at the start of Terraria.
• Supply chests are scattered around the world to help you find rare resources, weapons or armor.

Buildings and characters in Terraria

Having acquired wood, you should go to crafting mode and build a workbench that expands the number of items available for crafting in Terraria. The first step is to focus on building your home:

1. Find flat terrain or modify it using tools.
2. Create the foundation and frame of the house from existing timber.
3. Using the workbench, collect doors and walls.

Houses in the game Terraria act as a refuge from the monsters that are coming in at night, which are difficult to deal with without proper equipment. The second purpose of buildings is the ability to populate NPCs there. Non-playable characters in Terraria live in buildings with living space equal to at least 8 x 4 blocks of free space. The room should be equipped with a light source (torch, fire, candlestick), table and chair. From computer heroes in the game there are:

• The guide mentioned earlier.
• Merchant – sells in-game items, appears after you accumulate 50 silver coins.
• Weapon dealer – trades in monster killing tools. It comes provided that at least one merchant appears on the map and you (or a player from multiplayer) have firearms in your inventory.
• Dryad – In Terraria on PC and other platforms, appears after killing any boss. In case of danger, creates a herbal shield to increase the armor of the characters around her.
• Nurse – appears on the map after using the first Crystal Heart. Heals yourself, NPCs and you.
• Demoman – To summon him, you need to find grenades, bombs or dynamite. Sells a related product.
• Wizard – present in the hardmode (activated after killing the “Wall of Flesh” boss in the underworld) and lives only in the cave.

Terraria Armor and Potions

Given the frequency of fighting monsters, Terraria has armor that, along with the weapons used, determines the chances of survival. Receive armor from improvised consumables or found in caves. For example, you can assemble armor from wood, copper, tin, silver, or meteorite shards. If a full set of protection is assembled from a helmet, breastplate and leggings, a special effect may appear. Wooden armor increases defense, and meteor armor increases magical damage, which is useful when used with the Space Pistol.

Potions are used to empower characters in Terraria. They fall out of chests, broken vases, found on the shelves in the dungeon. After use, they restore the specified amount of health or mana, remove negative effects, and serve to obtain a buff to characteristics. Some of the “mixtures” can be prepared by yourself if you know the recipe and have an alchemical table:

1. Lesser Healing Potion – 1 mushroom, 2 gels and the same number of bottles.
2. Mana Potion is a Glowing Fungus and two Lesser Mana Potions purchased from a merchant.
3. Recovery Potion – Take Bottle, Mushroom and Rose Gel.

There are also potions of obsidian skin, magical power, and spirits that increase melee damage but reduce defense. For example, the “Feather” tincture will be needed for those who were able to gain wings in the game Terraria, increasing the flight altitude or dive range.

Terraria bosses and walkthroughs

Bosses in Terraria represent mobs with increased attack, defense, special damage-dealing techniques and original behavior that differs from other opponents in the game. They are divided into the previous hardmod and after the transition to the hardmod. The first common boss in Terraria is the slug king. The best way to deal with it is to destroy it with ranged weapons. It is recommended that you use earthen blocks to create platforms above the ground so that the slug cannot reach you. Then on the map Terraria will meet:

• Eye of Cthulhu;
• Eater of Worlds;
• Skeletron;
• The Brain of Cthulhu;
• Queen Bee;
• Wall of Flesh.

Killing the latter will unlock access to hardmode bosses. Each of the powerful mobs requires an original approach, so it is better to read the recommendations for killing them on the thematic forums. If you are determined to download Terraria on Android, remember a few tips for passing:

1. Plant acorns instead of felled trees to grow new wood sources. Plant the sprouts or they won’t start to develop.
2. Find your way around the time of day by observing the sun in the sky. As soon as dusk falls, move towards the constructed shelter.
3. Visit randomly generated caves to find chests with valuable loot.
4. Dig mines to extract precious ores needed to create better tools and equipment.

Since you can download Terraria in Russian, there will be no problems with mastering the gameplay. The original version of the game was developed by the Re-Logic studio, and 505 Games took care of the reproduction for Android and iOS. The mobile project looks no worse than the analogue with the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which cannot be said about the controls, which are difficult to master without a long game for several hours.
