Facebook is a famous social network that has been in the top of the most visited sites on the Internet for years.
Perhaps only those who have been hiding in cramped shelters without the Internet, smartphones, computers and mobile communications for almost two decades have not heard about the communication service from Mark Zuckerberg. Facebook is talked about on television, written in newspapers and magazines, on entertainment portals, and even resources dedicated to earning money and social addictions. The world has long been firmly connected with such well-known American products, and such integration is already inevitable.
Facebook specifications
The Facebook social network appeared in 2004 as a kind of local system for communication between students at Harvard University, where everyone is able to find friends by interests, share photos and news, and at the same time share their mood and even correspond with teachers.
The idea of such text communication immediately overwhelmed the students, and then, by 2006, got out of the walls of educational institutions and became available to everyone (mandatory conditions – the participant must be over 13 years old and own e-mail). Now Facebook is consistently in the top five most viewed sites, is a platform for communicating with friends and celebrities, and at the same time is used as a news and entertainment platform.
Therefore, finding a social network in a browser will not be difficult, as in other things, and in the form of mobile clients for Windows Phone, iOS and Android. Developers offer to create a page and keep in touch with family and friends for free – you won’t have to pay for any content.
True, Facebook has much less opportunities than its domestic competitor, VKontakte. You can’t listen to music, watch videos and, in particular, full-length films released a few weeks ago, and even with applications there are too many complexities. But, if you focus on the submission – Facebook is free and will never require monetary contributions (except for in-app purchases in entertainment applications).
Function and purpose
The main goal of any social network is to offer different ways for direct communication: and here there are hardly any surprises that have become a secret for competitors from all over the world. Facebook is standard in its capabilities and the way to surprise only with the “Like” button, which changed in 2016, when the only familiar heart expanded to other feelings – surprise, sadness, anger, love and laughter.
But will someone, from additional reactions, be transferred from the already familiar messenger to the development of Mark Zuckerberg, which has not become close to compatriots? The question is debatable – there will definitely be some interesting things here, but whether such trifles will seem obligatory to the community is hard to say.
Three important things are definitely worth highlighting from the whole variety of Facebook. First of all, attention is drawn to the love of developers for their own business. Updates and innovations consistently appear several times a month and either add some new features or correct emerging problem areas (translation, strangely displayed interface, problems with optimization and technical implementation).
Global changes, like a multiplied like, appear less frequently, but such things immediately begin to be talked about all over the world and even broadcast on television – the coverage area of such an eminent place for communication is too extensive.
Secondly, the focus on modern technologies deserves positive comments. A special MarketPlace platform has appeared for a long time, where everyone is able to put things up for sale or buy their favorite products posted by community members.
In addition, if you already have an online store, all transactions and support can be transferred to Facebook for iOS. The social network will take the risk, sometimes the delivery, and sometimes the support needed to make the perfect trades.
Disadvantages of a social network
The main problem with Facebook for Windows, both in the browser version and in the version for mobile clients, is the interface. Using the proposed menus is completely inconvenient – there are always the wrong buttons on the screen, inappropriate menus and options, sections and platforms for direct communication.
There are really two ways to deal with such a problem – using graphical and individual settings that partially correct the appearance of the main page, and thanks to “frequent training”. Superficial understanding of the essence is not enough here – you need to visit unusual, but diverse pages daily, trying to achieve perfection in trying to remember every turn of the interface and available buttons.
From a technical point of view, there are also plenty of problems – the developers still have not solved the problem with the cache, which is growing exponentially (in a day, Facebook on Android and iOS can take up to several gigabytes of free space), they have not thought through the built-in messenger (for quick communication, the network offers to download additional software), and did not fix long downloads of applications and some additional sections.
So, for example, when launching entertainment content, you have to wait ten to fifteen seconds until the expected response occurs. It gets harder to endure this every time. And if the cache has overflowed the internal memory and RAM, then crashes are just around the corner. And at the same time – new half-hour downloads. Luckily, you can’t find any ads.
Facebook, against the background of VKontakte, looks like an inconvenient platform that has not been brought to technical perfection and is very unusual for the domestic audience. It is allowed to communicate here in various ways, passing photos, videos, messages, but out of habit everything seems too confusing, which makes you want to immediately leave Mark Zuckerberg’s home and be transported to a neighboring world, where the whole world is also welcome, but already in a predictable format.
