The developers of Valiant Hearts The Great War begin the story with a dark presentation of the scenery and plot set. On the screen, yellowed clippings from newspapers appear sequentially, on which slogans of world leaders are written in expressive letters, and military clashes and military landings that have already taken place are indicated. In addition to newspapers, the authors propose to pay attention to the wounded and those who were captured, as well as to the young soldiers who have not yet graduated from school, but already forced to flee to the front and bear the military burden. In less than five minutes, the plot inserts will end and the second stage of training will begin. And there, even your own adventures are just a stone’s throw away, which, by the way, are really impressive.

Plot. The story of the game Valiant Hearts is built around four characters who at different times got to the front. The fates of the heroes are different – someone led a riotous life, and someone is sad without a family. But such trifles are not important in war, everyone will have to shoot and hide in the trenches. Thanks to the beautiful style and design, it is curious to watch the events, and it is easy to love the characters even after the plot introduction. In addition to plot details, the puzzle is full of details “borrowed” from history. The developers did not try to invent anything, but only took long-known facts as a basis, added a new style and attached heroes who had to go through the war to the plot. So the events of 1914-1917 are perceived brighter.

Passage. The events in Valiant Hearts The Great War unfold on tight levels, where you will have to deal with several things at once – searching for objects, interacting with characters and solving puzzles. It is impossible to call the listed elements unexpected, but, oddly enough, it is impossible to break away from the passage. I just want to talk to the infantrymen, who are “tomorrow at war” or – to raise the morale of the officers by finding the hidden bottles of wine. As you progress, the tasks will change repeatedly, but the way of interacting with the world will remain the same.
