Exos Heroes is an experimental role-playing strategy game with a turn-based combat system, atmospheric scenery and an intricate storyline centered around the search for the lost sword of the emperor.

The legendary blade of Exos Heroes empowers everyone who grasps the bejeweled hilt with omnipotence. And if the weapon gets in the way of the prince, then the world is saved, but what if robbers or leaders of the army of darkness appear on the way to the reward? Will the universe collapse?

The narrative in Exos Heroes is elevated to the Absolute: the developers put their whole soul into dialogues, animated screensavers, notes and virtual magazines, and therefore the plot is revealed from all sides and in maximum detail. To match the story and scenery: the events unfold on an unknown continent, where for many years there has been a war between fantastic heroes, spellcasters, summoners and wizards, as well as robbers and dragons.

With whom to fight, whom to take on the team, and where to look for allies will only tell time – at the start you will have to trust only old friends found in a past life …

Difficulty, characters and atmosphere

The combat system of Exos Heroes is multifaceted, although familiar from the point of view of the genre. Battles are conducted in a step-by-step mode: it is necessary to distribute skills and abilities, inflict damage on opponents, use consumable items, and at the same time accumulate energy for powerful combinations. It is difficult to get to victory – unpredictable actions of opponents, ever-growing complexity and a special system of elemental balance, forcing the water to pick up fire damage and vice versa (there are many interconnections, and therefore the combinations have to be memorized), interfere.

And you still have to collect cards, develop characters, distribute points and explore the world around you, facing unknown characters and engaging in battle to save other people’s lives. Such is the heroic fate …

Despite the serious requirements for the skill of strategic thinking and the set plot goals (the struggle for power on the fictional continent, battles with dragons, the defense of kingdoms), the situation in Exos Heroes is far from gloomy, but adventure, and even interspersed with humorous sketches, jokes and continuous sarcasm. It is curious to watch the characters quarrel, invent nicknames or grimace – it feels like the events unfold in some anime, where the script has not yet been thought out until the last chapter, and therefore the narrative is not predictable. The developers added a different kind of humor to Exos Heroes: the heroes, due to the lack of some characteristics in battle, stumble, drop their weapons and miss spells, scolding everyone who was at hand.
