TOP 11: The most anticipated first-person shooters

Today we’ll go over the shooters and see what’s in development and what we can expect next year. Let’s start with first-person shooters, the release of which begins in 2024 and beyond. Let’s take a look at the expected games of future years that are currently known.

1. Outpost: Infinity Siege

The release of a game called Outpost: Infinity Siege is scheduled for February 2024. The game is a mixture of shooter, tower defense and strategy, with survival elements thrown in for good measure.

You have to explore the world, extract resources, build a base, and then defend it from enemies by shooting at them with various weapons, just like in first-person shooters. At your disposal is a large arsenal of weapons, extensive possibilities for constructing defensive structures and their improvements, for which you will have to research new technologies. In the later stages, you will be able to design strike aircraft, energy shields and even mechs that you can personally jump into and use them to repel endless waves of monsters. You can play either alone or in cooperative mode.

2. Out of Action

The next shooter has huge potential, despite being developed by just one person. Out of Action is a fast-paced cooperative first-person shooter in a cyberpunk style that combines 90s anime aesthetics with dismemberment. Although I’ll tell you honestly, after watching a bunch of gameplay videos, I never found the dismemberment.

The game takes place in the dark world of cyberpunk, where large corporations are on the warpath for resources. You take on the role of one of the mercenaries and go to shred your enemies. In addition to a large arsenal of weapons, you will also have at your disposal unique combat mechanics such as levitation, mimicry, disappearance, the ability to create copies, a large selection of medications, and so on. But the main feature of the game is the ability to slow down time in cooperative mode. How this will be implemented can only be understood when you play it yourself. In any case, for one person the game already looks very good.

3. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl

If we talk about the most anticipated shooters, it’s hard not to mention a game like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. This is an adventure shooter with a first-person view in the post-apocalyptic world of Chernobyl with RPG and horror elements.

I think everyone has heard about this game and I could talk about it for a very long time, but I will try to highlight the most important things. So, you will find a huge open radioactive world with an area of more than 60 square kilometers, filled with various locations, anomalies, mutants and monsters, representatives of different factions, and so on.

More than 30 types of firearms with numerous modifications. And the most important thing that we are promised is a branched plot with decisions that affect the characters and the world as a whole. And now for the not so good news. The game was postponed again, although this was of course expected. The release is now scheduled for the first quarter of 2024. But as you know, there was a fire recently in the studio office, where the data servers were damaged. Therefore, be prepared for the fact that it will most likely be postponed more than once, so we will have to wait for it for a very long time.

4. Clockwork Revolution

If you’re missing the Bioshock vibe, something similar is in the works. Clockwork Revolution is an adventure shooter with a first-person view and RPG elements.

We are promised a deep RPG component, the ability to create your own character, a system of branching dialogues where every decision you make will have consequences, a large arsenal of cool steampunk weapons and supernatural abilities, as well as dark humor and an interesting plot. Externally, the game certainly looks very promising, so we are waiting for new details.

5. Judas

Speaking of games similar to Bioshock, there is another one called Judas. The game was announced at The Game Awards in 2022. Story-driven first-person shooter in a sci-fi setting.

The developers of the Bioshock game series are working on the project, so you know what to expect from it. Namely, an atmospheric world, unusual weapons, the ability to use magic. There is practically no information about the game, the only thing that is known is that it has been in development since 2014. So there is a small chance that we will see her next year, but it is not certain.

6. Soulslinger: Envoy of Death

Have you heard about Witch Fire? Let me remind you that this is a shooter in the world of dark fantasy, which was released in September 2023. So, in 2024 something similar awaits us, but more modestly – Soulslinger: Envoy of Death.

7. The Axis Unseen

While we’re talking about fantasy shooters, here’s another one – The Axis Unseen. The release is scheduled for 2024. The game is a hunter simulator in an open world with horror elements.

You have to pick up a bow and go hunt down ancient monsters. At the same time, you should be careful while hunting, since at any moment you can turn from hunter to prey. To prevent this from happening, you will have the opportunity to upgrade your sense, improve your bow, find new types of arrows that allow you to control fire, wind and even time.

8. John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando

The events of the game will unfold in the near future, when experiments to extract energy from the Earth’s core led to the release of an ominous filth, which began to turn all people into zombies. You take on the role of one of the mercenaries and set out to save the world. We are promised a choice of character class, a wide arsenal of firearms, special abilities, leveling up skills, the ability to drive vehicles, as well as an apocalyptic world inspired by action films, comedies and horror films from the 80s. You can play either alone or in a company of up to four players.

9. Projekt Z: Beyond Order

While we’re talking about zombie shooters, here’s another game called Projekt Z: Beyond Order. A cooperative first-person shooter set during World War II.

The action will take place on a secret island where the Germans have settled and are conducting their terrible experiments to turn people into zombies. Your task is to thwart their plans. To do this, you will have to build your own shelter and there you will be able to create and modify your own weapons, ammunition and other consumables. It will also be possible to equip the base and hire personnel. We are promised four playable characters, each with their own storyline and skills, as well as several game modes, single, cooperative and endless survival mode in waves of zombies.

10. I.G.I. Origin

In general, there is not enough information about the game, but they write that the game is being created on the Unreal Engine 5, so the graphics will be fine.

Plus we are promised the opportunity to use various spy gadgets and a great emphasis is placed on the plot narrative. However, the latest news about the game is not the best. The fact is that the development studio is planning to be closed, so the release of the game remains in doubt. Maybe they will have time to finish it before closing, maybe they will transfer it to another team, or maybe we will never see it.

11. Delta Force: Hawk Ops

Next up is Delta Force: Hawk Ops. The new part will be a restart of the series of tactical military shooters about the American special forces Delta.

The game’s plot is based on the film “Black Hawk Down”, which will take you to the picturesque city of Mogadishu. If rumors are to be believed, real actors will be involved. In addition to the story campaign, the game will also have two other modes. The first is “Dangerous Operations”, where, together with a team of three people, you need to find resources and get out of the map. The second is “Incredible Battles”.

Here you will find a large-scale mass mess using ground, air and water equipment. At the moment, four operatives are known – a paratrooper, a scout, an engineer and a support fighter. Each of them has their own unique skills and special equipment. The game will also delight you with good graphics and partial destructibility.
