Far Cry 4 is an action-FPS game with combat RPG elements.
The action in the game Far Cry 4 takes place in a small fictional Far Eastern republic called Kirat. This is the historical homeland of our protagonist named Ajay Gale, where he returns from the United States to scatter her ashes on his native land at the behest of his deceased mother. Unfortunately, a civil war is going on in the country: the Golden Way popular movement is fighting against the totalitarian regime of a certain Pagan Min, who, as it turns out, is familiar with Ajay’s parents and, moreover, at one time they were ideological opponents who spoke on opposite sides of the conflict.
Upon learning of the arrival of the son of his enemy, Peigan Ming personally flies after him by helicopter and takes him by force to the palace, planning to use it as an ideological trump card against the general mood of the people. After all, once Ajay’s parents were very significant domestic political figures.
The “Golden Path” also learns about the visit of the descendant of former heroes and sends a detachment to the palace of Ming in order to free Ajay and transfer to his side. At the cost of the lives of several key figures, they succeed. From this moment, the story of Far Cry 4 begins, where the protagonist is forced to fight on the side of the resistance due to the situation, although internally he also sympathizes with people and strives to help.
Entourage
Kirat is located in the Himalayas. Its geographical neighbors are India and Nepal. That is why we are immediately greeted by magnificent landscapes of green valleys and serpentines, safely hidden in the fortress of majestic snow-capped mountain peaks. When you look into the distance, the feeling of space is breathtaking! It seems that all the affairs of people (even such a terrible event as war) do not interfere with the peace and serenity of nature at all.
However, upon closer inspection, things are not so rosy. Not to say that the graphics in the game Far Cry 4 stepped forward: the same engine as it was in the third part. Yes, the backdrop of rocky peaks and snow-covered haze are really impressive, but the design of the playing space itself, regarding the variety of landscape elements, could be better. Firstly, stones and rocky ledges sometimes catch the eye with their angularity. Secondly, trees of the same variety are too similar to each other, both in shape and in color. This is especially noticeable from the air.
In contrast to nature, the structures of people, on the contrary, amaze with their detail. And not only in terms of graphics, but also the number of exterior and interior objects (albeit most of them are inactive) – great work, life really feels.
Far Cry 4 game mechanics
Nothing fundamentally new from the previous game: the same action-packed shooter from the 1st person with free movement.
But, nevertheless, everything that was in the third part is preserved and noticeably developed. We also have the opportunity to use land, water and air transport. Of the pleasant innovations in this regard, a small helicopter should be noted as a compromise for those who do not want to spend time on road crossings and looking for hang gliders, but who feel sorry for breaking the atmosphere with a system of instantaneous movement around the map. Hikers were armed with a grappling hook (which is natural, given the nature of the mountainous locations).
The story of Far Cry 4 now provides us with a pronounced confrontation within the friendly camp between the two key playable characters of the main storyline. Now we have the right to choose whose methods we like the most: the humanistic Sabal, who seeks, first of all, to save the lives of people and, in general, the morality of the people, or Amita, a girl with a prudent strategic mindset, sacrificing (if necessary) human resources for the price of victory.
There are also many excellently executed firearms in the game. Models of guns are so good that in fact there is a desire to hold them in your hands, to feel all the power enclosed in a metal form. And the sounds of shots are real music!
Summary
Many will say that this is not the fourth part of Far Cry, arguing that the software engine and gameplay have remained the same. But this is a subjective position, and a relatively young one at that. Remember the dawn of the gaming industry: before, in order to give the project the next figure, it was enough just to write a fresh story, adding more new content to the content (as is the case here). Now, you see, this is not enough. For some reason, it is necessary to develop other technologies in order for the work to receive the full right to proudly carry the next number in the title.
Far Cry 4 is a good game. That’s right: no more, no less. A project for a solid four, both in the direct (ordinal) and figurative (qualitative) sense. It has its own unique atmosphere and unfolding history.
The cutscenes and dialogue alone in the game last nearly four hours.
