Applications for fans of a healthy lifestyle

The pursuit of a healthy lifestyle is a laudable initiative, but plans alone are not enough, you also need to make real efforts. And your smartphone can help with the latter, which will take on the functions of a nutritionist, pedometer, personal trainer, etc. Just install one or more of the applications recommended below.

e-Anatomy

A detailed anatomical atlas for iPad and iPhone, a professional-level program vital for medical students and practitioners alike. Yes, and translated into Russian. And what, all this is free? Not quite so: the basic package allows you to get acquainted only with the basics (this will be more than enough for a student).

But if you want to delve into the structure of any organ, you will have to order additional packages: their total cost exceeds $ 200, which is quite comparable to the price of a high-quality “paper” atlas. The “pumped” version of the program includes descriptions and images of about 6000 anatomical elements.

A short guide to the most common drugs. For each drug, the manufacturer, indications for use, contraindications, side effects, method of administration, as well as the image of the package are indicated. It is possible to search for the drug of interest by name, purpose and composition. Among the disadvantages: there is no way to pick up analogues and generics of expensive drugs, as well as find the drugs themselves in pharmacies in your city.

Instant Heart Rate

The program for measuring the pulse. After all, you must admit that just holding your wrist and counting heart beats is boring and out of date, but here you have a super-technological gadget at hand, which, it turns out, can also do this!

It is enough to press the fingertip to the camera (not hard, otherwise crush it), and the desired number will immediately appear on the smartphone screen. Yes, do not forget to gently rub the lens with a soft cloth afterwards – unless, of course, you want to see your own fingerprints on all the photos. By the way, you can find other similar applications with advanced functionality that can measure pressure or even make a cardiogram – Vital Signs Camera, Blood Pressure, and so on. However, almost all of them give only an approximate result and are more suitable as a minute entertainment, or require special sensors.

The program rather resembles not a counter, but a reference book with a huge database of products – there are more than two dozen items of chips alone. In addition, the program includes a guide to popular restaurants and supermarkets – with a “dossier” on their specialties, a search for trademarks and even a barcode scanner that will help you find out the whole ins and outs of almost any finished product (Internet access is required). As a bonus – a diet calendar and an exercise diary.

RunKeeper

The number one program for runners and walkers – Forrest Gump would love it! Theoretically universal, however, in fact, it is sharpened primarily for the iPhone (can you imagine running with a tablet?). The functionality of RunKeeper can be considered a standard: a timer, GPS tracking with online saving of your jogging routes, constant speed monitoring, calculation of energy costs (you must specify your age, height and weight), reporting and all kinds of analytics – of course, integration with social networks, Where you can regularly post updates on your progress. There are also additional individual training programs – but for a fee.

Pedometer

Another “lightweight” version of a commercial application, an advanced pedometer with a GPS navigator function that displays your routes on Google maps. Slow walking, running, cycling, trail walking, snowshoeing, rollerblading, skating, skiing, and skateboarding modes are supported, and you can add rowing, swimming, and fitness modes on your own. The program captures the speed, distance traveled and topics, and in the presence of special sensors – and the pulse.

In the paid version (the cost of the Ultra-package is $5), voice notifications, simultaneous viewing of the planned and actual route, as well as markers and setting the program for the day are added to the talents of the pedometer. The results can be sent to Facebook or to one of the specialized social networks like Run Keeper (though not very popular in Russia). If you do not need GPS tracking, additional modes and bells and whistles, you can try a simplified version of Pedometer Free from the same company.

This set of applications is enough for the average healthy lifestyle, but if you have not found the program you need, do not despair – the Apple and Google application stores are full of analogues.
