The Isle – a world made to kill you

The Isle is conceived as an open-world horror-horror game. Explore vast landscapes of dense forest and open plains, traverse treacherous mountains and wade through dark swamps where nightmares lurk. There are ruins hidden inside that hold an understanding of what came before. Remember, the goal is one: to survive.

There are few hand-holding or implicit prescriptions that can change the style or purpose of the game. Kill or be killed. After all, you can only trust yourself. The islands and their inhabitants will change radically as they evolve, constantly evolving as players learn for themselves how to thrive and flourish. Your mistakes will be punished. Don’t expect survivors. Massive prehistoric multiplayer game.

Become the beast within. By joining The Isle, you can play as one of dozens of unique creatures, from tiny swift herbivores like Dryosaurus to bloodthirsty giants like T. Rex or Allosaurus (and many more to come!) As a dinosaur, you are the epitome of greatness , cunning and ferocity. Use your natural abilities and senses to stay out of the menu and become a stronger and more capable creature.

Interact with a living prehistoric ecosystem as you become either a predator or prey on servers with up to 100+ players, all as hungry and dangerous as you are. Form flocks / herds, create nests, protect your offspring, hunt and claim territory. One mistake could mean your demise. Survival or Sandbox?

The main game mode of The Isle is Survival, an intense and challenging experience in which you have to grow up fast or die young. Dinosaurs in survival mode go through several stages of life, starting with the small and vulnerable. Use your sense of smell, night vision, and ingenuity to survive long enough to grow, become more powerful, and unlock new abilities like nesting. Due to the time it takes to develop a character’s full lifecycle, not every creature can or will be playable in Survival, although more will be added in future updates.

However, sometimes you don’t want to fight for survival or you don’t have time to go through the whole dinosaur life story. And that’s okay. For players looking for a less intense experience, Sandbox Mode allows you to play an expanded roster of dinosaurs (and soon people!). You can jump straight as an adult super-predator or a peaceful giant, without any serious penalties or consequences from death. We will not judge. The history of the global community

The Isle is a storytelling told strictly through the environment, achievable only with close cooperation between the players. Are you stuck? Can you just walk away? What is AE? How did the dinosaurs get here? What a distant call pervades the night?

It will take an entire community to answer these mysteries and unravel the purpose of your stay on the Island, and each discovery will directly affect the future of the game’s storyline.

We understand that there is still a long way to go and there is a lot of work to be done to make this the game we want to be. We will be adding a lot more to The Isle as we develop, and will take into account user feedback on how we are developing the gameplay. Some of our planned features include:

• Playable water and air creatures
• More playable dinosaurs with full life cycles
• Two new playable factions: modern humans and indigenous people.
• Transform into advanced versions of some dinosaurs.
• Realistic AI Dinosaur with Complex Behavior
• Additional world biome types such as dense jungle
• Dynamic respawn system from a bird’s eye view
• Global in-game local quest
• Localization of all game menus and text
• Better accessibility and customization

All this and much more is on our radar in the future. We started out with a plan for just a handful of in-game predators, but based on the needs of the players, we expanded our reach, dramatically increased that number, and introduced herbivorous dinosaurs as well. Hearing from our community has been instrumental in guiding our process and helping to correct our mistakes, and we hope that together we can turn The Isle into a true dinosaur game.
