Description

Officially, the K-Meleon browser has been distributed since 2000, but a full-fledged, full version with all the necessary protective protocols, settings and mechanisms appeared only in 2013.

Since then, the developers have supported only imaginary activity and every few months they roll out fresh builds with some fixes in localization, optimization and other features. You can always follow the new versions on the official website. The browser conducts the rest of the updates automatically.

By the way, the K-Meleon browser does not provide any cross-platform – versions are available only for Microsoft Windows (XP support is in place), and therefore one can not even dream of synchronizing data between accounts.

Back in 2000, the K-Meleon developers started working in several directions at once. First, we provided the browser with support for mouse gestures (the necessary movements are entered in the settings and combined in various ways, allowing not only to open some tabs, but also to enter data into text fields, open notes and save data to the cache).

And secondly, we took care of the macro language, which allows you to either superficially or completely change the browser. One has only to understand the instructions available on the site, and you can safely remove unnecessary fields, add buttons, change the interface design – all at the first request of users!

Additional features of K-Meleon are portability (you can download a working version to a Flash drive and explore the world wide web from a third-party media for additional security), ad blocking (not all pop-up notifications are blocked the first time, sometimes you have to dig into the settings), economy when working with multiple tabs, extensions and add-ons.

The disadvantages of K-Meleon are availability only on Windows, slow pace of development (a modest team is working on the project and many changes are made with a delay of several months), an outdated engine that is getting worse at coping with the increasing demands of the modern web. Everything, of course, is fixable, but how long will you have to wait?
