Days Gone is presented in a well-known genre for a long time: “post apocalyptic zombie action” and you ask me what is special about it? In a similar genre, dozens of games that are similar to each other like twins, and I will answer you: zombies!

Yes, do not be surprised, because in the game Days Gone is not about the usual slowly wandering living dead, I’m talking about hundreds! About thousands! Fast and dangerous. Unlike their fellow Zombies, freaks are not dead, and have primal instincts, gather in crowds, and go into hibernation during the day. Even alone, they are serious opponents, and when you see a horde nearby covering your entire screen, there is only one advice – save yourself.

But I’m rushing things, not zombies alone are interested in the game Days Gone.

The protagonist of our story, Dikan Saint-John, or as he is called “Dick” is a former member of the biker group “Reservoir Dogs” and is currently a mercenary in the company of his friend, with the wonderful nickname “Boozer”. The game’s event begins two years after the start of a terrible pandemic that turns people into mindless cannibals – “freaks”.

Losses that day did not bypass our hero, in an attempt to escape from the burning city, in the company of his wife Lucy and the aforementioned best friend with a serious injury, they got to the rescue helicopter, but unfortunately there were only two places, and realizing that Bukhar would not be able to to get out myself, put only my wife on board and stayed with a friend.

Having reached the camp where the helicopter was flying, he turns out to be destroyed and burned down, and realizing that his wife is no longer there, he continues to fight for his life. And now, after two years of wandering, our heroes stumble upon one of the same helicopters as on that very day, and finding new hope in their hearts that Lucy is still alive, our hero begins his journey full of maddened cannibals, and what is more alarmingly distraught people, cultists and desperate bandits.

Perhaps this is all that I can tell about the plot without delving into the spoilers of Days Gone, but although the plot seems at first quite viscous, and with a huge number of story arcs, and secondary tasks, closer to the second half it is gaining frenzied momentum and unexpected intricacies. One of the key mechanics of the game and the main way to overcome huge distances inside the game is the main character’s motorcycle.

But not everything is so simple, you need to constantly take care of it, repair, improve and replace parts, and do not find yourself in a situation when the gasoline sensor drops to a critical rate, and there will be a horde around you. Yes it is, one of the features of the game is the need to monitor the fuel level, because when it reaches zero, you simply stall, and you will have to go in search of gas with your own two.

You can refuel your bike at gas stations, survivor camps and finding fuel cans in the world. But what about the methods of dealing with enemies? Days Gone provides a huge assortment of killer gadgets: Rifles, pistols, shotguns, axes and knives, these are just a small part, as there is still a huge variety of crafted items, from grenades and melee weapons to rattles and napalm cocktails.

Resources for all this, like ammunition, should first be looked for in old camps, checkpoints and empty cities, but do not count on their number, each resource is worth looking for.
