Cuphead for Windows

Cuphead is a 2D platformer, or more precisely, it’s a shooter in which the player has to fight against many bosses.

And this game is very difficult to play for a reason. It requires the player to be very diligent, patient and have enough time, if only because in order to complete the level and never see the inscription “You Died”, you still have to try.

The Cuphead game is made in the genre of our favorite Disney cartoons of the 30-40s of the last century. The cartoonists have done a great job to breathe life into the game, and not just make an uncomplicated cartoon picture. All the characters in the game dance, smile, wink and take you along into the whirlpool of adventure. Hundreds of small details pleasing to the eye, the jazz accompaniment is transferred to the time when we were looking forward to Saturday morning, set the alarm at 10:00 so as not to miss the next episode of “Mickey Mouse” or “Tom and Jerry”. But, frankly, during the boss fight it will be difficult to concentrate on these very details.

Cuphead gives the player a basic set of skills. You can just run, jump, shoot with your finger at opponents with different types of projectiles and dodge, as well as repel some attacks. Our hero will be confronted by bosses invented by the sophisticated minds of the cartoon industry. The arsenal of bosses, unlike the hero, will include a wide variety of skills and abilities. It is the bosses who will arrange crazy cartoon battles throughout the game, in which, at first glance, it is generally impossible to survive. But, having died once or twice, you can guess the algorithm of the enemy’s actions and, in the end, defeat him.

You can, of course, set an easy level of difficulty, just effortlessly go through the levels and watch the entire storyline company, like a straightforward cartoon. The plot of the game tells us about a man named Cuphead and his brother Mugmen. These brothers have one distinguishing feature – a cup instead of a head. These “empty-headed” fools, having put their souls on the line in the game with the devil himself, of course, lost. The devil, who owns a casino, offered the brothers to work as freelance collectors and take souls from debtors according to the list. Our brothers will be engaged in such a thankless and insanely exciting business throughout the game.

Throughout Cuphead’s gameplay, there will be coins that can be exchanged for all sorts of upgrades: six weapons, six modifiers, and three superpowers. You need to prepare wisely for each level. You can only take a certain amount of equipment into battle with you. For example, two weapons: a homing and a shotgun, one modifier that adds extra life, and one superpower that makes the character immortal for a short time.

Honor and praise to the developers for creating such a creation! Having entered the fabulous retro world for a second, I want to stay in it and feel nostalgic for the old days.
