Why do Android apps stop on their own?

Before trying to resolve any error, you need to know what is causing it, or at least have an idea of ​​the possible problems that lead to such an error. Forcing applications to close on Android can be caused by several reasons, the most common of which are the following:

  • The mobile phone does not have enough RAM to run the application.
  • Application or user data is corrupted.
  • The development of the application is incorrect, resulting in this type of crash.
  • Unexpected system failure of the device.

If your apps stop due to an internal phone problem, there is nothing you can do to fix it. However, if this is due to any of the other reasons, we can try several solutions.

Find the application that is causing the problem

Obviously, if we do not know which application or applications are stopping, we will not be able to fix the problem and continue to use our device as usual. So, the first thing you need to do is find the apps that forcefully close and write down their names so you can quickly find them later.

Perhaps the application that is causing you problems is a custom application (that is, you downloaded it yourself) or a system application. In the case of custom ones, it will be much easier to solve the problem, since there is always an option to uninstall the application. In the case of system applications, it is not always possible to eliminate them, which can complicate the task.

Clear the application cache

The first thing we’re going to try before closing Android apps is to clear the app cache. To do this, you will need to go to the address: “Settings” – “Applications” – “All”.

  • Find the application that is causing the problem in the list, select Data Usage and click Clear Cache.
  • Depending on the version of Android you have, you may need to look for the “Storage” section of the problematic application to clear its cache.
  • After you have uninstalled it, use your mobile phone as usual. If you do not receive the “Application has stopped” error message, then the problem has already been resolved.

Remove data from the application

If not, try turning your phone off and on again, sometimes this simple process can fix many problems, including this one. But if the error still appears, it is better to uninstall the application.

Uninstall and reinstall the application

Applications are often installed incorrectly or crash and force them to close because they cannot function normally. This installation failure or application problems can be resolved in many cases if we uninstall and reinstall it. Check if the problem is resolved, if not, try downgrading. To do this, you need to uninstall the app and download its APK from the previous version from a third-party site, since Google Play does not allow you to download older versions of apps.
