Samehadaku is an Indonesian infotainment service entirely dedicated to anime and presented as a virtual cinema with a forum and thematic sections for discussing new releases and already known titles.

Initially, the developers did not allow viewing videos, but only published materials about Japanese animation and comics. But later the functionality became wider. Largely due to the requests of the local community, always faced with a lack of content translated into Indonesian. • With updates to Samehadaku, push notifications have been added to alert you of new episodes, forum posts and unmissable releases.

Despite the “Indonesian” focus, the service will be useful outside the country designated by the developers. Content translated into English (or with subtitles) is published on the Android mobile operating system, and therefore those who want to improve their language are quite capable of using Samehadaku in everyday life to practice pronunciation, get to know the Japanese language and improve speaking skills.

UI, updates and ratings

The Indonesian guide to the anime world Samehadaku looks faded against the background of competitors: the interface is simple and consists of three or four sections with a sliding context menu, a search button and a personal account, where developers offer to subscribe to favorite titles, directors or illustrators. The schematic design is partially complemented by images, trailers and pop-up animated screensavers, but in general the style is unpretentious.

Samehadaku’s functionality is more varied: in addition to a calendar displaying information about new releases, there is a forum with comments, a special category with viewer reviews and a catalog with an impressive collection of anime, available with subtitles in Indonesian. The built-in player allows you to select the playback quality, change the format and even download videos to internal memory (in MP4 or MKV) for viewing without access to the network.

Some of the features appeared immediately, the rest were added along with updates, which, among other things, brought unexpected technical problems. The Samehadaku service has become more likely to issue errors, sometimes it does not allow users to enter their personal account, and in the section with the anime collection. As a result, user reviews can hardly be called positive: more and more often, the anger of those who are faced with regular departures and other problems, with the network or technical implementation, is heard on the network.
