Five Nights at Freddy’s AR is an experimental part of the FNAF series, again dedicated to the fight against faulty animatronics, but this time in augmented reality format.

Creepy characters dream of getting out, and therefore are already looking for a way to connect with the human world and scare everyone who gets in the way. The moment has come to look horror in the eyes and try to survive another meeting with monsters hiding in the darkness …

Features of Five Nights at Freddy’s AR

• An oppressive atmosphere of eerie sounds, strange decorations and special effects;
• Non-standard gameplay that forces you to quickly adjust to the situation and choose the next action accurately;
• The gameplay is divided into scenarios of increased difficulty: it will become much more difficult to survive every night;
• During the passage, you need to pick up consumables: batteries for a flashlight and stun gun, notes with tips, parts for assembling special tools;
• The “unlimited access” mode will force you to adapt to the attacks of animatronics at any time of the day: even at night!

Gameplay and Augmented Reality

Five Nights at Freddy’s AR takes place in a player-chosen room – a room, an assembly hall, or even a dance club (a street is fine too, but with restrictions). The goal is to survive the night while animatronics wander around and try to scare anyone who suddenly gets bored or tries to focus on additional tasks, such as finding coins or connecting generators.

The night is stretched out for 3-5 minutes depending on the scenario. For a specified period of time, at least 5-6 opponents appear on the screen, which cannot be tracked by cameras, and therefore all that remains is to listen to the surrounding sounds and lightning-fast attack each animatronic that appears in the frame. The idea is not new, but because of the eerie atmosphere, the universe of Five Nights at Freddy’s AR makes you think three times before starting the passage – is it worth the risk?

In addition to single-player gameplay, additional competitions are also provided: the search for scattered parts (they will help to collect new animatronics), social interaction, the fight for champion titles in the leaderboard. At some point, there will even be a chance to challenge your friends …

Scenery and ambience

The universe of Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery has not changed against the background of the previous installments of the series: the atmosphere is still extremely depressing. Strange sounds, reminiscent of the rustling and creak of floorboards underfoot, and frightening effects that make you shudder even when the augmented reality technology is working, and the familiar outlines of your own room, hinder you from concentrating on the passage.

But the developers at Illumix suggest going even further and using headphones with surround sound. It will become even more difficult to peer into the darkness, and any even barely audible rustle will cause a disturbed heartbeat!

If the degree of horror has reached obscene values, which makes it impossible to perceive even the storyline adequately, then the only way to get back into action is to use a whole series of settings designed for Five Nights at Freddy’s AR. It is about activating a flashlight to dispel darkness, and about the ability to lower the volume and reduce the number of collisions with dangers around. But is it worth the extra time of the horror ride?
