Undertale is an indie puzzle game with RPG elements and pixel art. The project has 3 endings, battles in the form of mini-games and music that gnaws at the memory. For a long time, people and monsters lived in peace, until disagreements ensued between them.

In a fierce war, humanity resorted to magic – using a powerful spell, they sealed eccentric creatures underground. Actions Undertale game takes place hundreds of years later, when a human child, having climbed Mount Abbott, falls into the formed crevice.

From this point on, we are offered to start playing Undertale, getting out of the pile of leaves that softened the fall. The first on our path is the Flowey flower. Kind-looking, he introduces us to the basics of the local mechanics:

After a little chat, the flower offers to share her joy, casually introducing us to the battles in Undertale. Flowey releases bullets and asks you to substitute your soul for them, you can dodge or receive damage from them, which in any case will lead to the appearance of Toriel – the keeper of the local ruins. She continues the training of the protagonist, explaining the principle of the traps and the main mechanic – mercy. This means that you have 3 options for how to play Undertale:

1. Neutral – comprehend the plot, kill one part of the mobs and key characters, leave the other alive.
2. Pacifist is an option for the most peaceful and hardcore fans. Without kills, you do not gain experience and remain the same level until the final. But everyone is alive.
3. Genocide in Undertale – a bloody trail stretches behind you from start to finish. Spare no one, pump the level and buy enhanced weapons.

Undertale combat mechanics

It is not enough to say about battles through mini-games, if not supplemented with options available during battles:

• Battle. An area for damage appears in front of you. The closer to the middle you stop the moving bar, the greater the damage.
• Interaction. This included actions or phrases to communicate with the enemy. After talking with your opponent, you can solve the battle without bloodshed and disperse peacefully.
• Things. Healing potions, items found in levels.
• Mercy. If a monster’s name turns yellow, you don’t have to kill it by releasing it.

But the download of the game Undertale is for those same mini-brawls. Each creature tries to inflict damage on the soul in a special way – within a limited area, tears, beetles can fly into your heart, frogs jump, bones move. All this at high speed, which is why you have to dodge, relying on your reaction speed and control keys on the keyboard.

Characters in Undertale

Instead of a bunch of characters from jRPGs or pale images from a mobile walker, the characters in Undertale are spelled out perfectly. Next, let’s go through the key characters:

• Frisk in Undertale is the main character and 8 people who find themselves in the world of monsters. Determining the gender of the protagonist is impossible, which is only a plus, allowing the player to match himself as the protagonist of the story. Despite the presence of the character’s name, it is revealed after the end of the plot in a specific way.
• Chara from Undertale looks like Frisk, but with a smile on her face. She became the first person to enter the dungeon after the end of the war of people and monsters. Appears at the end of the plot along the path of an absolute pacifist or genocide. If you go through the game for the first time, killing everyone on the way, at the end Chara takes possession of Friske’s body and wants to implement a plan to destroy the barrier between the world of people and monsters. Has a rich background and is presumed dead.
• Papyrus in Undertale is a skeleton, a comic character who dreams of becoming the “face” of the royal guard, for which he seeks to catch a man and bring him to his patroness Undyne. He is very gentle and merciful, despite the plans to capture the protagonist, he quickly succumbs to him and becomes a friend, inviting him to have a party with him. Seen to have ties to Flowey, but how the flower influenced him remains unknown.

It is impossible to find out all the backstories and intentions of the heroes after the first passage. To do this, you will need to end the game with all endings and constantly act in different ways. The monsters who have become your friends will be able to communicate with the protagonist on the mobile phone received from Toriel at the very beginning of the journey.

In addition to the images described above, the game contains cute doggie guards, a scientist with eccentric inventions, shifted to the destruction of a robot man, who is leading a culinary TV program with action, drama and violence. It is worth noting a lot of humor in Undertale, which is well translated into Russian. Unfortunately, in the official version of the localization, which forces the download of the crack.

Undertale has one developer, Toby Fox. He single-handedly wrote the code, thought out the plot and wrote the music. Due to the abundance of pixels, the project looks like a fake on the Atari 2600. The musical accompaniment defies description. There is an original soundtrack for the battle with each boss. Undertale is an established game that will be relevant and original decades after its official release. You can experience the video game phenomenon on PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, where it costs around $ 10. Undertale did not come out on Android.
