Description

Bully is a driving, satirical and highly experimental action adventure from Rockstar Games that follows the life of Jimmy Hopkins, a bully and bully who is forced to spend an academic year at a private school in Bullworth.

The hero of Bully is skeptical: he is already thinking over a plan of future torture for teachers and topics for arguments with classmates, and at the same time prepares for new truancy and deuces. But Jimmy’s dreams on the outskirts of Bullworth will surely fall to pieces, because in a private school life follows different rules, and the requirements for discipline are much stricter than in educational institutions nearby. But is it so easy to fix a bully who instills fear in everyone who comes to hand?

Bully Features

  • Bully raises moral themes and tells a heartfelt story about a teenager lost in time and unable to reveal his soul to others;
  • The action movie is full of references and intersections with literature and third-party cultural works, and also constantly throws humorous sketches on very adult and even piquant topics;
  • The gameplay is intense and filled with driving elements: each virtual day will be a unique challenge, sweeping from the fight in the cafeteria to the next exam and test;
  • The simulation of life in Bully is designed in an original way: the hero has to dissect both frogs and study mathematics, earning points for the shown ingenuity and erudition.

Gameplay and atmosphere

Bully takes place both inside the school and in the surrounding area. Jimmy will have to attend classes and deal with homework, fight local bullies and run around elementary school students, and after the call – explore the sights around. The storyline, although it develops linearly, the events are not tied to specific goals: the developers from Rockstar Games allow you to freely move around the global map, interact with characters, look for objects and in every possible way adapt to the changing world.

And yet, Bully has to adhere to the restrictions: we are talking about the grades received (the worse the performance, the more meticulous teachers and school attendants who catch those who are absent from classes), and about the schedule. Life in an action movie begins at 7 am: then a break, lunch, a couple more classes and a call at 16:30. Since then, schoolchildren have been dumping out into the street and doing their daily tasks. By 23:00 the school is completely silent. But by 02:00, if Jimmy does not get to the room, he will collapse to the ground from fatigue and be left without things and even shoes!

Events, difficulty and entertainment

The classic storyline in Bully is partially diluted with new missions and challenges that appeared as part of the Scholarship expansion. But the mechanics and ideas are the same: you have to move around the global map, deal with the main and secondary assignments, divide new acquaintances into friends and enemies, and at the same time defend interests and ideas that appear periodically.

From the point of view of gameplay, the concepts that appeared in the GTA series, almost in their original form, reached Bully: the same fistfights and weapons (but instead of pistols, machine guns and rifles – slingshots, firecrackers), a similar ability to move around the map on transport, a bunch of additional activities and a continuous struggle for reputation. The difference is only partially noticeable in the ways of interacting with the world: if in the GTA, mannequins with repeating faces are around, then in Bully each character is unique and will certainly be encountered during the story.
